Every month on the Chaturthi Tithi of the Shukla Paksha, Vinayak Chaturthi is observed. The day is devoted to Lord Ganesha, as the name suggests. Devotees conduct fasts and worship Lord Ganesha on this auspicious day to overcome obstacles in life.

On this auspicious day, worshipping Lord Ganesha is thought to bring happiness and success. Devotees often recite Ganesha’s aarti and Chalisa for a particular virtue on Vinayak Chaturthi. According to legend, one of the Hindu religion’s most successful fasts is the Chaturthi Vrat.

Vinayak Chaturthi history

Vinayaka “Chaturthi” is the name of the Lord Ganesha-worshiping celebration (fourth day). The first person to observe Vinayaka Chaturthi and a fast was Lord Chandra, the Moon God. The title Ganpati, which denotes the head of Shiva’s “ganas,” was also given to Lord Ganesh. According to legend, Lord Chandra took great pride in his good looks. He began giggling at Ganpati’s appearance when he noticed his elephant-like features. Ganeshji was furious and cursed him, telling him that anyone who looked at the moon would be cursed from that point on. Lord Chandra repented of his error and begged for pardon. Then Ganeshji gave him the vrat instruction to release him from the curse. Chandra Dev removed the curse from himself in this manner.

Meaning of Vinayak Chaturthi Vrat

Lord Ganesha is referred to in Hindu scriptures as Pratham Pujya, the god who is worshipped before all others and the one who eliminates all barriers from life. Vighnaharta is another name for Lord Ganesha. On this auspicious day, many worshippers hold breakfasts and give prayers to honor and satisfy Lord Ganesha.

The Vinayak Chaturthi fast (vrat) is practiced to rid oneself of any negative influences, and adherents lead fortunate lives by appeasing Lord Ganesha on this day. People experiencing difficulties need to observe this fast (vrat) and give modak, laddu, clothing, and other sweets to Lord Ganesha.
