History And Origin Of Rohini Vrat
There once was a young woman by the name of Durgandha. She was Dhanmitra’s daughter. Due to Durgandha’s poor self-care, her father began to worry about her future. However, Dhanmitra managed to arrange her marriage by lavishly showering her with wealth and cash. Unfortunately, he eventually moved on from her.
The father became concerned again, and when a hermit came to his hamlet, he looked for a remedy for her daughter. The sage recounted how her daughter erred in a previous life. She consequently has bad luck in this life. In a previous existence, Durgandha was the queen of the Bhopal king. The monarch once welcomed a sage to his realm for a feast. But his wife strangely served the dish, making him unhappy.
As a result, the sage cursed her with death and hell. And after many incarnations as worms and animals, the queen finally took into human form as Dhanmitra’s daughter. Therefore, she must observe vrat on every Rohini day to overcome this hardship. She should also provide alms to those in need. After five years and five months, she finally had a happy life.
As a result, the guru gave King Ashoka and his wife the same advice. And that is how they both managed to escape their troubles.
Puja Rituals Of Rohini Vrat
